Upper school (KS4)

Our aim is for all pupils to experience a broad and balanced curriculum which will allow them to develop their skills and knowledge and enable them to be successful in whatever they choose to do. However, we also feel pupils should be able to personalise their choices according to their needs, interests and goals. Choosing options for Key Stage 4 holds much significance for pupils and it is a process that we take very seriously.

Upper School pupils continue studying core subjects including Maths, English, Science, PE, SMSC and PSHE (inc RE, Citizenship, Careers). Students will also have the opportunity to complete the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL). From Year 10 pupils can choose their options, to help them with their next step into adulthood.

From Year 9 and up into Key Stage 4, pupils have the opportunity to learn different vocations by attending provision at one of the following educational establishments;

  • KnowleDGE, Bristol
  • Rocksteady, Bristol
  • Lackham Campus, Wiltshire College

Subjects studied include;

  • Animal Care/ Agriculture
  • Catering
  • Computer Science
  • Hair and Beauty
  • Motor Vehicles
  • Construction

At Key Stage 4, some students attend part-time or full-time alternative provision off-site, either at college or through private tutoring.

We are a forward looking school and are always looking towards innovative ways to further improve the curriculum experience for our young people.
